Students are working to carefully color their illuminated letters. We worked the whole time today to color color color! They look AMAZING! We will spend one more class coloring and will then be finished with our first big project! Whoo hoo! "I can use a ruler. I can draw a design for an Illuminated Letter"
Today we created the borders for our Illuminated letter projects. We then started transferring our rough draft ideas onto the paper to create our fancy letters and symbolic borders. "I can create a bookmark design. I can complete a vocabulary sheet." Warm up: My favorite outside activity We completed our bookmark designs today! We also started our vocab sheet for art of the Middle Ages! Tapestry: Art made from fabric Statue: A 3D sculpture of a person or animal Illuminated Manuscript: A handmade book with decorations Rose Window: A round window made with clear and colored glass. Students will write the word, the definition, draw a picture and use the word in a sentence. ![]()
Objective: Students will be able to show understanding of vocabulary dealing with art of the middle ages.
Activity: Students will complete a vocabulary sheet with the word, definition, illustration and sentence for each vocabulary word. Tapestry: A piece of art made with fabric Statue: A three dimensional sculpture of a person or animal Illuminated Manuscript: A handmade book with fancy letters and drawings Rose Window: A circular stained glass window Assessment: Completion, use of vocabulary word in sentence- underlined. Students also discussed the "Chi Rho" page from the Book of Kells and began designing their own illuminated letters! |
